  • Topical session on GeoRef database and Sharon Tahirkheli

    Please join us on Thursday, November 16 at 11:30 AM (Eastern Time) for a topical session on the GeoRef database organized by the Geoscience Information Society (GSIS) in celebration of the distinguished career of Sharon N. Tahirkheli.   Sharon recently retired from the American Geosciences Institute, after four decades of leadership of GeoRef and allied information resources for the geoscience community. She is a past president of GSIS and recipient of the Society’s 2009 Mary B. Ansari Distinguished Service Award.

    Presenters will share current and historical perspectives on GeoRef and on Sharon’s impact on geoscience communication. The session is entirely virtual and open to all.     Please welcome Dwight Hunter, who is stepping into the role of GSIS webmaster. His familiarity with WordPress has already yielded improvements to our site and I look forward to his providing a more lively venue for member issues and discussion.
