  • GSIS Winter Newsletter Now Available

The Winter, 2026 issue of the GSIS Newsletter is now available!

Highlights include many regular columns from GSIS Leadership, Member News, Musings, and Committee Reports from the Annual Meeting.

This is our last issue as GSIS editors! It has been a pleasure to edit, coordinate, and read all of the news and articles you have all been willing to contribute your time and effort to for the GSIS Newsletter these past many years. Thank you all for all the contributions you have sent in. We have been editors since 2017 and thought it was time to give someone else a chance 🙂 We are pleased to be leaving you in great hands with two incoming co-editors Holly Dean and Matt Hudson! Thank you to them both for stepping up to volunteer, I’m sure they will welcome your submissions and will be starting with the next issue in the spring.

  • Open GSIS Officer Positions

Volunteers and nominations are sought for the positions of Treasurer and Vice President of the Geoscience Information Society.

The Treasurer serves for 2 years as a member of the GSIS Executive Board (EB) and manages the society’s funds, advises the Executive Board on managing and investing our funds, and prepares our financial report. This is a great way to play a more active role in the organization and see how things work from the inside.

The Vice-President has a three-year term, moving from the vice president role to president to past president, and serves on the GSIS Executive Board. As VP, you do program planning; as president you convene and lead the Executive Board and annual meetings; as past president you serve on the Nominating Committee. In these roles, you play an important part in setting the agenda for the organization, both now and for the future. If you want to gain leadership experience, this is an excellent opportunity!

If interested, please contact Bob Tolliver at pastpresident@geoinfo.org by July 11, 2025 with your name and brief biographical information.

Feel free to contact Bob or any other current officer for more information.
